For our next livestream, we will take you through this island Christmas Classic, “Christmas Luau”. This song was recorded in 1959, and you may remember it from our Free Christmas Jam from last year. We’ll be doing a deep dive into this song, using substitutions chords to bring extra movement, adding in small fills, and more. This livestream will be suitable for all level of players, so come join the holiday fun! The Livestream will be November 19, 2022, at 9AM HAWAII TIME.

Backyard Concert #9 - Season Finale - Jeff Peterson

Recognized as one of Hawaii’s most versatile musicians, Jeff Peterson is at the heart of the Hawaiian music scene today. His passion for the guitar has allowed him to shine as a solo artist and has given him the opportunity to collaborate with a wide variety of artists from Hawaii, across the US, and abroad. Though his focus has been Slack Key Guitar for most of his career, he has always had a passion for ukulele.

He is a multiple Na Noku Hanohano award winner, has contributed to two Grammy Award-winning records, and has even been nominated for a Grammy himself. He’s traveled the world performing and has even had the opportunity to perform with such greats as  Eric Clapton, James Galway, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Aaron Neville, Boz Scaggs, the Honolulu Symphony, Hawaii Opera Theatre, Keola Beamer, Nathan Aweau, Amy Hanaiali’i, The Matt Catingub Orchestra of Hawaii, jazz bassist Rufus Reid, and more. Five of his songs were also featured in the movie, The Descendants, staring George Clooney. 

He studied ukulele with renown Jazz Ukulele Player, Benny Chong, and has recently started an Online Ukulele Course called Ukulele Corner. There, students can learn Classical, Hawaiian, Jazz, and even Pop pieces, all through his gentle teaching style.

Ukulele Jazz Festival

We’re very excited to be a part of the 2022 Ukulele Jazz Festival will take place online on Saturday, May 21st and Sunday, May 22nd. It will kick off with a Jazz Jam, and then workshops by Diane Nalini, Adrian Cho,and us!. And we’ll finish off with a transcontinental faculty concert!

This unique ukulele event will be entirely focused on jazz.  We’ll work on key musicianship skills like solid rhythm, jazz comping techniques, and jazz phrasing. And we’ll learn how to arrange jazz standards for a single ukulele or as a duet.

Replays of the classes will be available for one month, and you’ll have access to high quality backing tracks!

Backyard Concert #7 - Neal Chin

We are beyond excited to have our good friend, Neal Chin, joining us for a backyard concert! He will be joined by Milo Fultz, on bass, as well. This show will be a real treat for the ears that you will not want to miss.

Award winning artist and Maui, HI native Neal Chin, has been both an ‘ukulele educator and performer over the course of his musical career of 19 years. His clear and direct enthusiasm for music has come to life in countless workshops, concerts, and private instruction. While his heart is in jazz, Neal has played with many musicians of different genres including Hawaiian, folk, rock, and hip-hop. His contribution to the collective The Akira Project, won his first Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award in 2014 before moving up to the Pacific Northwest. Since then he has been nominated for the Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award for ‘Ukulele Album of the Year two years consecutively for ‘Ukulele Paintings and The Spotless Mind in 2017 & 2018, started his own ‘ukulele practice in the Pacific Northwest, and has toured from Vancouver Island BC to Milwaukee to his home state, Hawai’i . Neal currently lives, teaches, and performs in Seattle, WA.

An 'Ukulele Retreat with extensive classes in a relaxing environment! These dates, March 20-24, 2022 are for session #1. Both sessions will have the same material taught, to allow more students a chance to join us.

Craig & Sarah have been running 'Ukulele Cruises for the past 6 years, traveling the world and teaching for 15 years, and currently have an Online ‘Ukulele School with ArtistWorks. They are taking their favorite parts of past events, and creating a brand new event that they know you will enjoy!

The theme of the retreat is “Group Play”. Morning classes will be spent working on techniques and song arrangements put together by the teachers. Afternoon Classes will be chosen from YOU, our students. As we get closer to our 2022 dates, participants will receive a survey to help us choose what the attendees would like to learn.
